I Will be a Father to You | 2 Corinthians 6:16b-18

 

1. The Temple of God: God’s Holy Dwelling-Place (2 Corinthians 6:16b)

2 Cor 6:16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God;

• To be the temple of God is to be the place of God’s liturgical prescriptions

• To be the temple of God is to be the place of God’s indwelling presence

• To be the temple of God is to be the place of God’s displayed power

2. The Promise of God: God’s Favorable Presence (2 Corinthians 6:16c)

2 Cor 6:16 …as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

• Divine Promise 1: “I will make my dwelling among them”

• Divine Promise 2: “I will… walk among them”

• Divine Promise 3: “I will be their God”

• Divine Promise 4: “they shall be my people”

3. The Charge of God: Separating from Sin (2 Corinthians 6:17)
